Information for New Stallholders
Thank you for your interest in attending one of our open days. Here is a little more
information about exhibiting with us.
New Hall Mill is Sutton Coldfield's only surviving water mill, and currently the only working mill in Birmingham. The Friends of New Hall Mill is a group of volunteers who keep the Mill and its grounds maintained and in running order, preserving an important part of local history for the community. We open the Mill and grounds to the public on 6 days each year (usually the second Sunday of the month) between May and September, and are joined by a wide variety of local craftspeople, community organisations and musicians, with something of interest for all the family.
Our Open Days are very popular, attracting upwards of 1000 visitors on our busiest days. Visitors are able to see inside the Mill itself, where they can learn how it has been operated since the 18th century and see wheat grain being milled into flour using millstones driven by the water wheel. There are wildflower and wildlife meadows to explore, as well as the Miller's Garden, where visitors can purchase plants and produce grown by our volunteers. We also have a Tearoom offering cream teas and coffees plus a selection of home made cakes; as well as a gift shop and Auntie Wainwright's second hand shop. Entry to the Mill is free; we are supported by donations and proceeds from sales made on the day.
There is no charge for taking a stall at our open days, however we do ask that if you wish to sell any items on your stand during an open day, then 10% of your takings are donated to New Hall Water Mill to assist with the costs of maintaining and running the mill for the pleasure and enjoyment of our visitors. Stalls are open air and located in the Exhibition Meadow. You will need to provide your own gazebo, table and chairs as required.
Our timetable for the Open Day season is set early in the New Year, when we will send out invitations to stallholders on our contacts list. Once all dates are filled, we keep a waiting list and may be able to offer a stall at short notice. We promote our open days locally and on social media and have a large number of followers.
If you would like to be considered for a stall at one of more of our open days, please email your contact details, together with a brief description of your business (and/or links to website, social media etc) to eventsnewhallmill@gmail.com - we will reply with our booking Terms and Conditions for your information.
